Ek het op hierdie koue winderige dag besluit om na 7 maande vir julle te kom vertel van wat hierby ons alles gebeur het ,so gryp ‘n lekker glasie Paddawyn -verkieslik ‘n soetetjie en stap saam met ons die pad. Begin November het Clyde Gerard aangesluit by ons as bestuurder en het ons dadelik gevind dat hy met sy restaurant ondervinding uit die stad ,ook vir ons kan help met die fynere detail ,gou het hy ingepas by ons familie hier by Paddagang .Dit is vir my en Gerrit belangrik dat almal oor die weg kom en dat ons soos een familie is ,dit maak die binnehuise probleme ook baie minder. Middel November het die Buitelandse besoekers weer gestroom na ons dorpie om hier te kom deel aan ons gasvryheid en vriendelikheid .November is gekenmerk deur eindjaar-, verjaarsdag- en ook afskeidspartytjies. Die binnelanders het vroeer as vorige jare ons dorpie binnegeval ,op soek na bredies en lekker wyn maar moet tog net nie die soetes vergeet nie.Die ander rede mense het op ons gras kom sit of lê om net te kom ontspan ,terwyl kinders orals rond baljaar en ons nuwe speelparkie geniet het en die kinders het die kos gee [dit is nou die ou brood ]vir die tarentale en poue baie geniet .Ja ,ons dierbare pou kinders wat menigte gaste al ‘n skelwoord of 2 laat sê het, met hul skril geluide is glad nie kamera of mens sku - hoe groter die kamera lense hoe meer pronk hulle.Partykeer tot ons groot verleentheid -maar dis ons kinders. Desember het verby gevlieg en voor ons, ons oë kon uitvee was die Kersseisoen oor en alles weer terug na normaal en het ons met ‘n spoed weggetrek met 2011. Ons het reeds vroeg in die jaar besprekings vir troues en funksies gekry en veral die nuwe gier by troues was ‘pre -wedding party’s . Op die 5de Februarie was ons so bevoorreg om Suzanne en Jacques Taylor se troue hier te hou ,van die begin af was hierdie troue anders -die decor die kleurskema wat swart ,wit en geel was en haar familie wat ons gehelp het van die begin van die troue tot die einde van die troue , en natuurlik die lekkergoedtafel en defnitief asemrowend was die bruid se paar polka dot skoene.Die Crouse familie het in my hart gekruip en dit was vir my een van my hoogtepunt dae by Paddagang.Ek praat altyd van ek het ‘n boksie waarin ek mooi herinneringe wegbêre ,hierdie was so ‘n dag.Alhoewel Tulbagh ‘n gerieflike 46 grade celsuis was. Kyk gerus ons fotogalery . Ons het Valentynsdag gehou vanjaar soos elke jaar met spesiale dekor en spyskaart en ons is goed ondersteun deur plaaslike inwoners en toeriste. Sondae bly een van ons besigste dae en kry ons al hoe meer motorfiets groepe wat die spesiale ‘bikers breakfast ‘kom eet teen R45.00 per persoon.Ons het besoek gehad van die volgende klubs : Harley davidson ,BMW ,Nomads en ander kleiner groepe . ‘n Groot eer het ons te beurt geval toe Harley Davidson Tygervallei se Eienaars Klub vir ons ‘n sertifikaat oorkandig het: Vir uitstekende diens ,kwaliteit en aandag aan detail en ‘ambience’.Dankie ook aan julle ,dis altyd lekker om julle kragperde hier by ons te hê. Ons word ook goed ondersteun deur toergroepe en ondervind dat mense nou in kleiner toergroepe reis en dit maak dit baie makliker vir ons . Ons het ook besoek van verskeie media groepe gehad internasionaal en plaaslik en die besoek wat uitgestaan het was die ABSA Cape Epic Cycle Media groep wat hier kom eet het.Tydens die week van die ABSA Cape Epic is al die restaurante goed ondersteun deur besoekers en hier wil ek net my dank uitspreek teenoor Saronsberg ,Grant Clack , die TOERISME kantoor en al die ander borge wat hierdie geleentheid moontlik gemaak het. Ons het ook in die eerste vier maande van die jaar nuwe uitdagings aangepak en ek dink as ek terugdink ,wil ek net sê dankie aan ‘n wonderlike span mense wat absoluut my besigheid ondersteun en ook altyd behulpsaam en bereidwillig is. Ons het vroeg in Maart ‘n Damesoggend aangebied saam met Anel De Lange en Nimue e met die Roer aanbieder Tammy Ann Fortuin as hoofspreker.Dit was ‘n baie geslaagde oggend en ons het heerlik gekuier op die gras voor Paddagang in die tipiese Tulbagh warmte. Ons het talle navrae gehad oor spitbraaie en braai funksies en so het ons ‘n hele paar braai ‘s gehad ,en wat hierdie funksie so spesiaal gemaak het ,is dat die engelsman -ons bestuurder vir ons hier op die platteland kom leer roosterkoek maak het. Die volgende was die groep Bloubul ondersteuners wat vir die naweek in Tulbagh was vir hul vriend Paul se troue die Sondag .Ons het gespitbraai ,Big screen Rugby gekyk en ook gesien dat die dae van Brandewyn en Coke getel is ,want vir die laaste 2 funksies was dit ewe skielik ‘n nuwe drankie wat te voorskyn gekom het .Cream Soda en Cane - glo dit of nie - soos Jason ons nuwe kroegman dit noem -Groen Paddas -is dit die nuwe in drankie onder die mensdom .Gelukkig groot was my liewe man, Gerrit of soos almal hom ken,Gertjie se blydskap toe hy darem nie teleugesteld is deur sy Stormer span, nie in hierdie skare van bloubloed Bulle nie. April het ons sommer afgeskop met ‘n troue en weer het ek besef elke troue hier is iets spesiaals ,Michelle en Martin het van die begin gevoel soos ou vriende ,Michelle was die rustigste bruid en alles was so mooi ,die decor en veral die gedrapeerde lappe en sprokieagtige liggies ,was baie spesiaal .Hierdie fotos kan ook besigtig word by ons foto galery .Hierdie aand is besonders goed afgesluit deur die bruidspaar en hul eregaste. Ons Moedersdag en Vadersdag spyskaarte is uit en besprekings vorder goed . Ons is ook tans besig om die beplaning te doen vir ons Christmas in the winter fees -Die naweek van die 25-26ste Junie ,hou asseblief ons webtuiste dop -ons sal binnekort die program opsit. Die winter kruip nou nader en ons dorpie raak stil en ons wag angstig op die eerste sneeu val en ons hier, by Paddagang trek ons groot kastrolle nader vir lekker Ertjie en boontjie sop en lekker bredies -so uit ouma se kombuis ,kom kuier hier saam met ons by lekker warm kaggelvure en kom drink ‘n glasie soetwyn of van die heerlike rooiwyne wan ons vrugbare vallei en maak seker jy mis nie ons winter buffets nie.Kyk gerus by ons Buffet -spyskaarte vir die datums . Ek hoop teen hierdie tyd is jou glasie weer gevul en ervaar jy die warmte wat ons almal in hierdie vallei het vir die grond waarop ons loop en die liefde wat ons het vir ons pragtige dorpie Tulbagh .Ek is bly jy kon hierdie hoofstuk saam met ons deel ,tot ‘n volgende keer [sal ek dan weer dit in engels doen ] - SALUTE - Bubbles van Zyl Add Comment Fireworks! 06/11/2010
Remember remember thee 5the of November... for those of you who do not know, this is the poem that was associated with the infamous Guy Fawkes who tried to assassinate king James the first by plotting to blow up the house of Parliament in 1605 in England. The 5the of November will go down at Paddagang as a day to remember when a few artists entertained us withe music, laughter and great food. Rooies, Nadia, Annequie and Hugo put on a great show once again and we had a great audience that made it a splendid evening. Rooies had everyone in stitches with his witty humour and funny dance moves . We would like to thank everyone who made the effort to come out and enjoy this fun and eventful evening. November will also be the last of our "bredie buffet's" but we will have the cold buffet up and running by December. Check out our Buffet menu page for updates. I would also like to take this opportunity to bid my farewell to Paddagang. I have been here for just over nine months and now my path has taken me in another direction. My time here at paddagang is only of good memories and I will really miss my team that I have gotten to know over this period of time. The new manager, Clyde, will be taking the rains and a better substitute I could of not have asked for. I wish paddagang, Bubbles and Gerrit all the best for thee future and I am sure theey will continue thee success story. Spring!!! 21/09/2010
Spring is finally here and what a start it has been. We had rooies and his crew visit to shoot the series " met a skepie sous" on the 30 August, which turned out to be a lot of fun for our guests joining us that day. Our Chef and guests soon found out that trying to have a conversation or giving your opinion while camera's are pointing at you from all different directions, is not as easy as it looks on TV and can be quite daunting at times. It was a great experience for all of us here at Paddagang and we are awaiting news on when it will be aired on TV. It has been confirmed that Rooies, Anique, Nadia Louw and Nico Nieuwoudt will be performing at Paddagang once again. It was such a great success the last time that Rooies and them agreed to come again. Only this time we will not be having it in our Restuarant but outside in our Courtyard, because it will be held in the summer on Friday the 5 November 2010, which means that we will have plenty more tickets available this time round. For those who joined us the last time, well you know excactly what to expect and be ready to expect a little more for there will be room for double the amount of people and what a great show it was. Many of you might not know the artists but what made th show so great is that they sang many golden oldies that got most of the crowd on there feet. Hits from artists like Queen, Micheal Jackson and Tina Turner are only a few mentioned. If you ave any queries about the show please do not hesitate to contact us. We would also like to post a welcome to all vehicle and motorcycle clubs. We just had the MX -5 club visit us and next month the Harley Davidson club will be heading our way. Tulbagh is a town situated in one of the most beautiful places in the Western Cape and taking a drive this way is not a bad idea, like many Cape Tonians have mentioned. For most it takes just over an hours and 20 minutes drive with many scenic routes to choose from. The skou is coming to Tulbagh this week and is held at Tulbagh show grounds. It starts on Wednesday the 22 September and ends on the Saturday the 25 September. The show will be featuring many events. The South African National Horse Championships are held annually and the highlight of the show is the wild flower exhibition, where flowers are displayed as they would appear in their natural state. Various exhibitions, art and craft stalls and a wine and beer garden and entertainment for the whole family will be welcoming you. Don't forget that this Sunday coming is Buffet Sunday. We urge all customers to book ahead to avoid dissapointment, please have a look at our menu page to see what our buffet and Ale carte dishes are. Only 17 days left in August and with our popular winter buffet we have launched our new specials menu which is available 7 days a week. It can be found on our menu's page and a couple of great deals are included. Like our R85 breakfast buffet which is suited for 6 persons or more and includes crossants, fruitsalads, jogurt, juice, filter coffee(only) and any breakfast from our Ale carte menu. Our sundowner basket was such a hit that we have designed a few more like our Seafood basket, Chicken basket and our feasty meat basket, all for R69 .One will fill the bellies of to adults. Our winter Sunday buffet is so popular that we decided to extend it to November . Be sure to book to avoid dissapointment for it is our bussiest day of the week and when our customers have the luxury of eating as much as possible - they tend to sit for a long time. Buffet dates for the upcoming months will be posted soon. We are also currently working on a summer buffet menu. "Net 'n Skeppie Sous" a new TV show will be filmed at Paddagang on the 31 August. Bubbles will be having a "Cook off" against Rooies and his biker Colleague. The show consists of Rooies and his crew touring the country on there motorbikes and visiting different towns and Restaurants, having a "Cook off" against the towns best chefs. The meals are judged by the locals in the town and a winner is announced. For those who do not know Rooies, he recently performed at Paddagang and the photo's for that evening can be found in our photo Gallery. Fourteen episodes will be aired and we wish Rooies and his team the best of luck.  Last but not least we would like to congratulate Annelize and Jaco. The couple got married this weekend and had there party at Paddagang which was a great success. For anyone looking to get married and not sure yet on were to have there reception, we have great facilities and will be more than happy to accommodate. Well well well what an incredible June this was. Tulbagh could have not asked for a better start to the long winter that awaits us. I am sure many Tulbaghers will be praying for a mulligan in July.It kicked off with the Football World Cup on the 11th and on the 16 June Tulbagh was completely caught off side with all the Capetonians visiting to watch the snow that covered most of our mountains. Individuals making trips on a daily basis from Ceres reported that the roads were so busy, that it had taken them over an hour and a half to make the short trip to Tulbagh. The Snow has subsided substantially since then but we can be certain that it is only a taste of things to come. On the 17th of June it was time for Rooies and his fellow performing artists to take the stage. "WoW" is the only real word to describe that unforgettable evening. There was a record amount of people in our restaurant and with a main meal included in the R100 ticket it was an absolute bargain for the unbelievable entertainment. Music ranged from great hits from all the artists and golden oldies like Abba, Tina Turner which everyone sang along and danced too. It was so successful that Rooies has already been confirmed for the 5th of November, only this time it will be on our front lawn on a hot summers night, which is a great setting for an awesome atmosphere. Saturday the 19th of June we hosted Anneke and Frans's beautiful wedding and on Sunday it was a time for all families to spoil there dad's on Father's day. But it was Christmas in Winter that surpassed everybody at Paddagang's expectations this year. For the first time in C.I.W's history, the tent was set up on our front lawn and on top of that God decided to bless us with 2 b-e-a-uuutiful days of warm sunny weather. These ingredients made an absolute wonderful recipe and we have tons of photo's to dispaly which will be uploaded very soon. We had a Christmas dinner on the 25th of June and with Christmas carol's playing in the background,Christmas crackers being "cracked" and customers turning up as Santa's (even little children) it truly felt like Christmas. Saturday started like any other, but soon turned into the busiest day that Paddagang ever experienced, with the Braai boys in action, wine being sold and bands performing in the tent it soon turned into a very Merry Christmas! On Sunday there was a much quieter crowd but good music and food was still being made. We would like to thank everyone that helped and contributed to making this wonderful weekend a success. Welcome to June everyone. As a South African I am so proud to be part of this wonderful country. We have come far as a country and yet there are sceptics that try and bring us down time and time again and so we prove them wrong, once again, by successfully bringing the biggest sporting event in the World to our shores by finishing our preperations, ahead of schedule. Yes it's the soccer world cup and I am sure even the die hard rugby fans are feeling the football fever. With less than 24 hours to kick off, one can not help to be excited. At Paddagang we are preparing for a busy June and with thr Rooies concert tickets completely sold out, more than a week ahead of the event, it is a small taste of things to come. Sunday the 13 June we will serve our R100 buffet and Ale Carte menu. Please check our menu page for what is on offer and what Sundays it will be available. Rooies and his fellow artists will perform on Thursday the 17 June 2010 and on Sunday the 20 June 2010 we will be setting up for Father's day. Please check our "events" page for what is on offer for Father's day. We will be doing a special father's day menu for R160. The R100 buffet and Ale Carte menu will be on offer as well. Christmas and Winter will be our final event for June and by far the event that we are all looking most forward too. Our music tent will be the main attraction for C.I.W and with quite a few Artists already confirmed it is going to bring more excitement to this event. We will also serve the R100 buffet on both days(26, 27) and do a Christmas dinner on Friday night the 25 June 2010. The menu will be announced soon. Yes it's time for that cold time of year and we kick it off with Mothers day on the 9th of May. For those that have completely forgotten, well you just have been reminded so don't forget to get your adoring loving mother a nice present before then because all the good shops are closed on Sundays :) If you have not decided what to do yet, why not join us on this special Sunday, were we will be serving a special Mothers Day menu which you can find hovering in our "events" tab but as always the Ale Carte will be available as well. We are also gearing up for Christmas in winter which promises to be bigger and better this year. With more tents and stalls going up it should be an event not to be missed. Paddagang will have a tent put up on the grass area which will host many different singers and bands through out the day. After 6pm a small entrance fee will be required for those who have not made the cutoff time, so make sure you get here early. Raffle tickets will be going on sale very soon, were contestants will have the opportunity to win one of 7 prizes. All the money raised will go towards the funding of the Christmas in Winter weekend. We ask the support of our of all our loyal customers and community to help us make this possible. Paddagang is proud to launch there new Website this week. Keeping up with the times is something that Paddagang has done for the past 36 years, so why not continue the tradition by creating a website that we can brag about and make it more convinient for our customers to reach and interact with us. Our website will be updated on a regular basis informing our customers about our specials and up and coming events that we have for the year. Not only will we post photo's and and information about our recent and current events but also give our customers the oppertunity to post comments about there experience. In doing so we will generate a better understanding about what our customers enjoy and try and improve our service to suite all our customers needs. We like to see ourselves as a family restaurant, not in the sense that we cater just for families but we are a famliy in the catering business. Our longest serving member has been here for 22 years and a few others range from 20 to 14 years, which gives you an indication of what it means for us to be part of Paddagang. Paddagang would like to thank everyone for there loyal support over the years and we are looking forward to the next couple of months when the 2010 World cup comes to South Africa |
